Lemont Quarries wants you to join our rock star squad of Adventure Guides for the Spring, Summer and Fall of 2022! We’re looking for enthusiastic and outgoing individuals to help us create an amazing guest experience on the Climb & Zipline Adventures.

Our Climb & Zipline Adventure Guides are in charge of monitoring the ropes course and are active in the management of guest and staff safety as they explore throughout the park. Both in the air and on the ground, Adventure Guides provide encouragement, assistance, support, and guidance to guests all while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adventure guide responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working both at height and on the ground to survey and monitor guests, fellow staff members, and the course with strict adherence to operating procedures and safety standards

  • Communicate with guests and other employees verbally and in possibly stressful situations to answer questions and provide clear direction with patience and tact

  • Demonstrate The Forge: Lemont Quarries core values in interactions with staff, members, and guests in word and in action

  • Work to facilitate an emotionally and physically safe environment for guests to explore outside of their comfort zones while adhering to the ‘challenge by choice’ philosophy

  • Daily inspection involving traversing course components and documentation of course and related equipment

  • Report to the Ropes Course Managers and Supervisors and work closely with other Adventure Guides and Adventure Hosts to ensure clear and consistent communication and services to guests

  • Help other Adventure Guides, Adventure Hosts, Ropes Course leadership, and executive leadership to drive performance and efficiency to maximize course throughput and customer satisfaction

  • Demonstrate course stewardship and assisting in course, equipment, and site maintenance when directed which may include cleaning,  repair, inventory, and inspection.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18+ years of age*

  • Must be within participant requirements of the Climb & Zipline Adventure ropes course (forgeparks.com/participant-requirements)

  • Must attend and pass a paid 6-day 40-hour training session including a skills assessment (written and practical)

  • Must have a basic standard of physical fitness, endurance, communication skills and manual dexterity.

  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including sun, rain, wind, and extreme heat/cold for extended periods. Job requires employees to be outside for the entirety of each shift

  • Require decision-making, risk management, and customer service skills, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work calmly under pressure in situations at height.

  • Requires a team-oriented attitude, punctuality, professionalism, and desire to help others (guest and peer alike)

  • Willingness to pitch in at all levels, there is no room for “not my job” attitude

PHYSICAL AND SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Because our park is located in a natural, outdoor, wooded location, candidates must be comfortable and willing to work in all seasonal outdoor weather conditions as operational duties may require

  • Position requires the ability to climb, lift and pull a minimum of 50 pounds, as well as sit in a harness and stand for extended periods

  • Must be able to dedicate a minimum of 20 hours a week between the months of May and August including nights and weekends

Recruitment Note: Adventure Guides can be selected for advanced training. Advanced Guide training requires an additional 20 hours to learn advanced assists and rescues. Advanced Guides are required to first pass the basic guide skills assessment and training.

Adventure Host

Part-Time, Seasonal

Climb & Zipline Adventure Hosts are a key part of the Ropes Course Adventure guest experience from checking in, to selling merchandise, to donning harnesses, all the way to teaching guests to use their gear, and starting them on their adventure on the course. Hosts operate fully from the ground, coaching guests and assisting guides in identifying those in need of assistance on course.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Activities Host

We are looking to grow our amazing team of adventure enthusiasts! The Activities Host is an entry-level position with room for immediate advancement into more senior roles.​

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors, sports, or recreation and love working with people. In this role, you will be directly responsible for amazing guest experiences. A positive attitude, willingness to work hard, and learning is a must! The Activities Host is on the front line of the guest experience working across all East Side activities including Paddlesports, Mountain Bikes, Kids Adventure Zone, Archery/Archery Tag, Water Tag, Axe Throwing, and Digital Activities (Tactical Laser Tag, AR Adventure games).

Guest Experience Representative

Part-Time

The Guest Experience Representative is responsible for the customer journey for all guests in the park. The Guest Experience Representative is in charge of the check in process for all customers including walk up sales, verifying waivers, enforcing safety requirements, rain check/refunds, and merchandise sales. The goal of this role is to ensure brand standards of excellence, answer inquiries and sell customers on The Forge: Lemont Quarries services and activities while maintaining high customer satisfaction. ​

The Guest Experience Representative develops, implements, and continually evaluates the customer journey cycle, with short- and long-term goals that support the mission of The Forge: Lemont Quarries.

F&B Supervisor

Part-Time, Seasonal

We are looking for a Food & Beverage (F&B) Supervisor to join our team and take on everything F&B! Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple aspects in relation to the food and beverage program. The successful candidate will assist in the management of F&B operations, inventory, and staffing. This includes our grab and go facility, roving cart, Adventure Dining experiences, and many park-wide events and private activities.

​This will be an active role. Not only in the sense that you will be active in the day to day operations of the Lemont Quarries Adventure Park, but also that you will be handling tasks as they occur in the park. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest level of service and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

The Forge: Lemont Quarries (TFLQ) is looking for an Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to join our operations team. This person will report to the CEO and will oversee the full accounting and financial planning cycle. You will partner with functional leaders to monitor spend and resource planning, and partner with the marketing organization to bring insight to the types of customers we serve. You will partner with the CEO to build out a strong back-office and planning operation focused on bringing visibility into the health of the business through analysis and company-wide reports.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure transactions are recorded daily to produce real-time balances for cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
    • Lead weekly, month-end, quarterly, and annual close process ensuring financial statements and account reconciliations are produced on time and in accordance with GAAP
    • Oversee accounts receivable and collection functions
    • Work with our Food & Beverage team to manage the inventory reconciliation process, including participation in quarterly inventory counts
    • Perform financial forecasting, reporting and operational metrics based on interactions with the senior management team
    • Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support, financial results variance and trends analysis and make recommendations for improvements
    • Support the payroll function by reviewing labor distribution, payroll register, and coordinating benefit accruals with Human Resources
    • Contribute to team goals by accomplishing ad hoc projects as needed
    • Partner with functional leaders to provide reporting on spend and resource planning
    • Drive standardized reporting and create a business partnership function across the three operational pillars or our organization
    • Work with marketing and guest experience teams to build out analytics measuring the ROI on lead generation, variable spend, and segmentation of customers to help us better understand behaviors and refine our ideal client profiles
    • Lead the implementation and use of forecasting tools
    • Develop and standardize board level reports and presentations
    • Collaborate with all levels of the organization to assist in operational process to help strengthen internal control of each department
    • Conduct comparable analysis and market research to support internal financial analysis
    • Oversee the annual financial review and tax reporting process with our third party tax accounting partner

     

    SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

    • 3-5 years of accounting experience with progressive responsibilities, especially with exposure to early-stage business environments
    • Significant exposure to financial planning and analysis frameworks
    • You should probably be an Excel and/or Google Sheets ninja; you need to be proficient in Google Workspace as well
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
    • Demonstrated knowledge of general and cost accounting principles and practices
    • Ideal candidates will have a consistent track record of outstanding financial and strategic analysis and delivering meaningful recommendations based on this analysis
    • Strong quantitative, analytical and data gathering competency

Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Manager

We’re looking for an experienced facilities and grounds maintenance professional to oversee maintenance operations across the three focus areas: Facilities, Grounds, and Activities.

 

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Reporting to the General Manager, the Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Manager will lead a small team of full-time and part-time/seasonal staff members,  and direct third-party contractors to ensure that all ongoing preventative maintenance and one-off repairs are prioritized and completed in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, etc.
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
  • Ability to keep track of and report on work projects and activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in business administration or facility management will be an advantage
  • Experience with maintaining equipment, facilities, and grounds in all weather
  • Experience as a machine operator or possession of a machine operator license(s) is desirable
  • A high level of self-awareness and receptivity to coaching
  • Availability to work varied shifts inside and outside the park, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary

To be successful in this position, you must be available to work a full-time schedule with additional weekend and holiday hours as needed to address immediate concerns and peak season maintenance issues that may arise. This means being able to work upwards of 50 or more hours per week during the peak season. 

Additionally, because our business is the operation of an outdoor adventure park, you must be willing to work in all seasonal outdoor weather conditions as operational and management duties may require. Education Programming Coordinator

The Forge: Lemont Quarries (TFLQ) is looking for an Education Programming Coordinator to

Outdoor Educational Programming, Community Outreach, and Teaching. The Education
Programming Coordinator will work directly with the Education Programming Director to assist in
the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of all educational programs.

    Bashes and scout outings.
  • Assist and show leadership at all Educate special events.
  • Assist with all summer camp administrative duties such as, but not limited to, organizing
    camp intake and health forms, parent communication, counselor training and other camp
    related administrative duties.
  • Assist the Education Programming Director with camp pre-season preparations, first day check ins and post-camp season clean up.
  • Take ownership in developing program-specific manuals and safety procedures forassigned programs.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Exhilarate and Entertainment departments and, occasionally, TFLQs nonprofit events and projects.
