Climb & Zipline Adventure Guide

Part-Time, Seasonal (to start beginning of August)

Lemont Quarries wants you to join our rock star squad of Adventure Guides for the Summer and Fall of 2023! We’re looking for enthusiastic and outgoing individuals to help us create an amazing guest experience on the Climb & Zipline Adventures.

Climb & Zipline Adventure Guides are in charge of the management of guest and staff safety as they explore the ropes course. Both in the air and on the ground, Adventure Guides provide encouragement, assistance, support, and guidance to guests, all while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Climb & Zipline Guide responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Works both at height and on the ground to survey and monitor guests, fellow staff members, and the course with strict adherence to operating procedures and safety standards
  • Communicates with guests and other employees verbally and in possibly stressful situations to answer questions and provide clear direction with patience and tact
  • Consistently works to create a positive and productive work environment through teamwork, receptivity to feedback, and continuous improvement practices. 
  • Demonstrates The Forge: Lemont Quarries core values in interactions with staff, members, and guests in word and in action
  • Works to facilitate an emotionally and physically safe environment for guests to explore outside of their comfort zones while adhering to the ‘challenge by choice’ philosophy
  • Facilitates fun and safe guest experiences both on the ground and at height through coaching mechanisms, knowledge, and interactions.
  • Performs daily inspections involving the traversal of course components and documentation of course and related equipment
  • Follows LOPs, SOPs, and safety regulations and by keeping oneself informed of current events, site practices, and safety concerns.  
  • Reports to the Ropes Course Manager and Supervisors. Work closely with other Adventure Guides and Adventure Hosts to ensure clear and consistent communication and services to guests
  • Helps other Adventure Guides, Adventure Hosts, and Ropes Course leadership to drive performance and efficiency to maximize course throughput and customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrates course stewardship and assists in course, equipment, and site maintenance when directed to. Includes cleaning, repair, inventory, and inspection.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18+ years of age*
  • Must be within all participant requirements of the Climb & Zipline Adventure ropes course (forgeparks.com/participant-requirements)
  • Must attend and pass a paid 5-day 40-hour training session including a skills assessment (written and practical)
  •  Must be available and able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week for 9 weeks from June-October
  • Must have a basic standard of physical fitness, endurance, communication skills and manual dexterity. Position requires the ability to climb, lift and pull a minimum of 50 pounds, as well as sit in a harness and stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions  including sun, rain, wind, and extreme heat/cold for extended periods. Job requires employees to be outside for the entirety of each shift
  • Require decision-making, risk management, and customer service skills, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work calmly under pressure in situations at height.
  • Requires a team oriented attitude, punctuality, professionalism, and desire to help others (guest and peer alike)
  • Ability to easily adapt to changing needs and requirements

PHYSICAL AND SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Because our park is located in a natural, outdoor, wooded location, candidates must be comfortable and willing to work in all seasonal outdoor weather conditions as operational duties may require
  • Position requires the ability to climb, lift and pull a minimum of 50 pounds, as well as sit in a harness and stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours a week between the months of May and August including nights and weekends

*Applicants may be under the age of 18 provided that their 18th birthday is within 1 month of the start of training.

Recruitment Note: Adventure Guides can be selected for advanced training, based on demonstrated competencies and developed skills during job duties. Advanced Guide training requires an additional 20 hours to learn advanced assists and rescues. Advanced Guides are required to first pass the basic guide skills assessment and training.

Climb & Zipline Adventure Hosts are a key part of the Climb & Zipline Adventure. Our hosts are on the front lines of guest interaction, as they prepare them for their awesome adventures by helping them into harnesses, and giving them a crash course in basic operation of our safety equipment as well as course rules.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILIIES:

Climb & Zipline Host  responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicates with guests and other employees verbally and in possibly stressful situations to answer questions and provide clear direction and solutions with patience and tact
  • Takes part in the daily inspection of course structures and equipment including applicable documentation
  • Follows Local Operating Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and general safety regulations.  
  • Answers basic questions regarding the operation of the park and ropes course
  • Maintains a knowledge of park offerings, amenities, events, as well as answers to frequently asked questions
  • Acts as an ambassador of The Forge, informing guests not only about the adventure and entertainment experiences but also of the nature surrounding them once onsite
  • Coaches, screens, and assesses participants through observation and guest interaction
  • Delivers briefings to groups of participants in a clear, confident manner
  • Demonstrates the core values of The Forge: Lemont Quarries in guest, and staff interactions
  • Works to facilitate an emotionally and physically safe environment for guests to explore outside of their comfort zones while adhering to the ‘challenge by choice’ philosophy
  • Reports to the Ropes Course Managers and Supervisors and work closely with other Hosts and Guides to ensure clear and consistent communication and services to guests
  • Helps other Climb and Zipline Hosts, Guides, and Ropes Course leadership to drive performance and efficiency, while maximizing guest satisfaction
  • Can/will be directed to complete tasks such as cleaning, inventory, and inspection

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 16+ years of age
  • Must attend and pass a paid 15 hour training which includes a skills assessment
  • Customer service skills required to answer guest questions and respond to guest complaints in a professional and courteous manner
  • Communication skills and basic public speaking skills and confidence to deliver briefings to guests
  • The ability to follow directions and complete tasks as directed by management with and without constant supervision. Must be receptive to coaching and feedback
  • The ability to retain information relating to the course and equipment with attention to detail in order to assist with inspections
  • Must be punctual and responsible with the ability to consistently show up for scheduled shifts
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions  including sun, rain, wind, and extreme heat/cold for extended periods. Job requires employees to be outside for the entirety of each shift

Guest Experience Host

Part-Time, Seasonal (to start beginning of August)

The Guest Experience Host is responsible for the customer journey for all guests in the park. The Guest Experience Host is in charge of the check in process for all customers including walk up sales, verifying waivers, enforcing safety requirements, rain check/refunds, and merchandise sales. The goal of this role is to ensure brand standards of excellence, answer inquiries and sell customers on The Forge: Lemont Quarries services and activities while maintaining high customer satisfaction. ​

The Guest Experience Host develops, implements, and continually evaluates the customer journey cycle, with short- and long-term goals that support the mission of The Forge: Lemont Quarries.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to: 

  • Work in a front desk capacity at the adventure park, providing a great first impression 
  • Own the check in process for all guests including printing wristbands, taking payments, upselling merchandise, making reservations and other experiences, resolving any customer service issues, and setting expectations for the customer  
  • Work directly with Assistant Guest Experience Manager on any guest escalations and/or weather related cancellations
  • Communicate with guests and staff in a professional and friendly manner that instills trust, support, and creates an incredible experience 
  • Identify and assess customers needs to achieve high customer satisfaction
  • Handle customer complaints providing appropriate solutions and escalating them as necessary
  • Answer basic questions regarding the operation of the park

Activities Host

The Forge: Lemont Quarries wants you to join our rock star squad of Activities Hosts for the Summer and Fall of 2023! We’re looking for enthusiastic and passionate individuals to help us create an amazing guest experience at our Explorer Activities!

 

We are looking to grow our amazing team of adventure enthusiasts! The Explorer Activities Host is an entry-level position with room for immediate advancement into more senior roles.​

 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors, sports, or recreation and love working with people. In this role, you will be directly responsible for amazing guest experiences. A positive, outgoing attitude, willingness to work hard, and learning is a must! The Activities Host is on the front line of the guest experience working across all East Side activities including Paddlesports, Mountain Bikes, Kids Adventure Zone, Archery/Archery Tag, Water Tag, Axe Throwing, and Digital Activities (Tactical Laser Tag, AR Adventure Games).

  • Background, experience, or active interest in mountain biking, paddle sports, and adventure sports is a plus.
  • Super-freakin-awesome communication skills. Seriously, you must possess the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to pitch in at all levels, there is no room for a “not my job” attitude
  • Ability to easily adapt to changing needs and requirements

Quarry Camp Counselor

Full-Time, Seasonal / Summer

The ideal Quarry Camp Counselor will have a passion for the outdoors, sports, or recreation and love working with kids! In this role, you will be directly responsible for creating an unforgettable camp experience for lots of awesome campers. A positive attitude, a love for working with kids and a desire to make a difference are a must! 

 

The Camp Counselor is on the front line of creating the ultimate experience and making a difference in the lives of many children. This person will work with multiple departments in order to achieve this goal.

Food & Beverage Grill Master

Part-Time, Hiring for May / June timeframe

  • Assisting other line cooks with all aspects of of food preparation, handling, and transferring
  • Being flexible on working at different locations and jobs throughout the park
  • Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and snacks
  • Plating prepared foods based on Food and Beverage Managers guidelines
  • Working with servers and host to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
  • Washing, sanitizing, and cleaning the kitchen container and cooking utensils to health department standards
  • Maintaining and cleaning kitchen equipment
  • Ensuring that the kitchen container operation procedures and hygiene meet food and safety standards and regulations

  • Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for success 

  • Ensure that by the end of the night that everything is shut down correctly and cleaned and sanitized, including the Foundry, bathrooms, Forgefire container, Storage units, etc.
