Costumed Mascot Performer

Part-Time, Seasonal

Energetic mascot performer to perform as the ALL NEW Forge characters! Seeking energetic, enthusiastic person with a passion for performance and a love for spreading cheer. As the face and spirit of The Forge: Lemont Quarries you will play a crucial role in representing our brand at a variety of events, from community gatherings and parades to everyday park meet and greets as well as events. The role requires a unique blend of creativity, physical stamina, and a flair for improvisation.

Mascot Responsibilities & Duties

  • Park events on a weekly schedule, community gatherings, Forge events, birthday parties.
  • Posing for photos with general public
  • Engaging with the audience through gestures, and other non-verbal communication.
  • Helping to maintain the mascot costume in good condition 
  • Participating in promotional videos and social media content.
  • Assisting in the development of skits or performances when needed.
  • Following a script or improvising during events.
  • Representing the brand in a positive and professional manner
  • Interacting with children and families in a friendly and approachable manner.

Mascot Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in performance or acting.
  • Experience working with children or in high-energy environments.
  • Excellent non-verbal communication skills.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to endure long periods in a costume.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain enthusiastic and energetic at all times
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to wear and move in a mascot costume for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Positive attitude and outgoing personality.

Salary

$15 – $18 per hour

Mini Golf Attendant

Part-Time, Seasonal

Help greet and check-in guests at our newest attraction, Mini Golf! The Mini Golf Attendant will also help serve snacks, alcoholic beverages, and sell merchandise. Mini Golf Attendants are the core of operations at our Mini Golf Park. They are often the first team members guests interact with upon arrival and play a vital role throughout their visit. Hosts support the smooth operation of the course by doing everything from explaining game rules and organizing scorecards to maintaining course flow, offering helpful tips, and ensuring guests have the proper equipment like putters and balls. In addition to these duties, Hosts may also provide basic food and beverage service and assist guests with activities like Gemstone Panning, further enhancing the overall guest experience. Above all, Hosts are responsible for delivering an outstanding guest experience with every interaction.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Host responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicates with guests and other employees verbally and in possibly stressful situations to answer questions and provide clear direction and solutions with patience and tact.
  • Takes part in the daily inspection of equipment and fills any applicable documentation.
  • Follows Local Operating Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and general safety regulations.  
  • Answers basic questions regarding the operation of the park and ropes course.
  • Maintains a knowledge of park offerings, amenities, events, as well as answers to frequently asked questions
  • Acts as an ambassador of The Forge, informing guests not only about the adventure and entertainment experiences but also of the nature surrounding them once onsite.
  • Demonstrates the core values of The Forge: Lemont Quarries in guest and staff interactions.
  • Reports to park Leads and Managers, works closely with other Hosts and Guides to ensure clear and consistent communication and services to guests.
  • Helps other Hosts, Guides, and park leadership to drive performance and efficiency, while maximizing guest satisfaction.
  • Shows good stewardship of park equipment and facilities. 
  • Can/will be directed to complete tasks such as basic cleaning and inspection of Explorer equipment.
  • Responsible for the facilitation of activities including but not limited to: Kids Adventure Zone, Kids Jump Zone, Gold Panning, and Mini Golf.  
  • Will be responsible for checking in guests and selling products and offerings out of the Gift Shop – inclusive of quick bites and  alcoholic beverages.
  • Assess patrons and follow Dram shop law and state regulations in proper alcohol service.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Must complete host training
  • Must complete BASSET Certification
  • Customer service skills required to answer guest questions and respond to guest complaints in a professional and courteous manner
  • Communication skills and basic public speaking skills and confidence to deliver direction to guests
  • The ability to follow directions and complete tasks as directed by management with and without constant supervision. Must be receptive to coaching and feedback.
  • Can retain information relating to the park and equipment with attention to detail in order to assist with inspections.
  • Must be punctual and responsible with the ability to consistently show up for scheduled shifts.
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions  including sun, rain, wind, and extreme heat/cold for extended periods. The job may require employees to be outside for the entirety of a shift.
  • Basic computer literacy to assist with guest check-in and assistance at POS locations. 
  • Because our park is located in a natural, outdoor, wooded location, candidates must be comfortable and willing to work in all seasonal outdoor weather conditions as operational duties may require
  • Must have a basic standard of physical fitness, endurance, communication skills and manual dexterity. Position requires the ability to lift and pull a minimum of 30 pounds, as well as stand for extended periods

SCHEDULING AND STAFFING:

  • Ideal candidates should be able to dedicate a minimum of 25 hours a week between Memorial Day and Labor Day  including nights and weekends (depending on their start date)
  • Must be able to work weekends in the Fall.

Salary

$16.5 – $18 per hour
