SUMMARY:Camp Trailblazers
DESCRIPTION:The Camp for All Abilities\n\nAugust 3 – August  5\, 2026\n\n\nOG CAMP with Camp Trailblazers is a three-day summer day camp for people ages 15+ with cognitive and physical disabilities. Designed to fit the needs of participants\, this three-day summer camp experience allows opportunities to surpass challenges and discover new abilities. With The Forge as the adventure destination\, campers will experience exhilarating activities such as kayaking and canoeing\, archery\, outdoor laser tag\, a netted obstacle course\, inflatable obstacle courses\, nature scavenger hunts\, biking and ziplining. \nOG CAMP offers an opportunity to be “Original and Old Fashioned” campers in a campsite with a campfire and songs. A special guest will lead singalong fun and s’mores. \nCampers must provide their own packed lunch\, snack\, water bottle and drinks. There are no heating facilities to heat up food or drink at camp. Camp Trailblazers is a place to learn new skills\, make friends and have fun being active outside. Campers must be ages 15 and older\, have an intellectual or physical disability to participate and be able to communicate their needs and desires. \nTrails and pathways are easy to maneuver and are relatively flat. The paddlesports area has an accessibility ramp with railings. At this time\, all campers wanting to zip line must be able to wear a harness and walk up the stairs on the Skyscraper Tower. Counselors are patient and kind when guiding campers in activities. Campers can move at their own pace and comfort level. Campers who require assistance with toileting or eating must bring a helper\, assistant or aide. Campers will spend their days doing Forge activities\, specifically designed programming to foster leadership and teamwork\, cooking breakfast\, preparing dinner and creating memories with friends around the nightly campfire. Nighttime fun consists of unique activities only available to Camp Over campers such as Nighttime/Sunrise Kayaking\, Midnight flashlight hikes\, moon lit kids adventure zone play and much more. We love to maintain the element of surprise\, so we won’t spoil everything we have planned! \nActivities such as hiking\, fishing\, birding\, bouldering\, ziplining\, slingshot\, slacklines\, exploring creepy crawlers & animal habitats\, nature art\, woods awareness\, storytelling\, games and hammock are all part of the 3 days. And now that we’ve earned the 4th leaf in our clover\, the race is now named the MUDDY SHAMROCK! \nThis early-season trail race will be run on wooded single & double-track trails with awesome scenery around the historic Lemont Quarries. Both races will traverse the single-track MTB trails within the woods and some gravel trails throughout the Forge and adjoining trail systems.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an immersive falconry experience that you will remember for a lifetime! As part of this class\, you’ll learn about the ancient sport of falconry and the biology and history of the many different types of raptors used in the hunt (including hawks\, buzzards\, falcons and owls). Each participant will learn how to handle a raptor while holding one of our Eurasian Eagle Owls before moving on to the individual flights. You’ll be taught how to properly fly a hawk to and from your gloved hand\, one of the Five Skills of the Falconer. We will end the class with a series of interactive free flight demos designed to allow the participants to practice their newly acquired skills. \nAbout the American School of Falconry\nEstablished in 2014\, the American School of Falconry started out with the mission of educating kids of all ages on the sport of falconry and the importance of raptor conservation. One of the most important parts of our mission is the support that we provide to our brethren in the Raptor Rehabilitation community. DESCRIPTION:The Forge Gravel Triathlon takes place at The Forge: Lemont Quarries. This adventurous short course gravel triathlon\, duathlon and relays is perfect for all multi-sport athletes. This race is USAT Sanctioned and in the USAT Gravel Series. The course uses the Forge Quarry for the swim segment while the bike and run courses wind through the gravel trails through the adventure park of The Forge and adjoining trail systems.
