Beginners & Families Fun Fishing Derby: $5 per angler

All-Ages Competition Fishing Derby: $20 per angler

No walk-up registrations allowed on the day of the event.

Fishing License 

All fishers 16 years and older will need a valid Illinois Fishing License in order to participate. Entrants will be asked to provide a picture of their valid Illinois/out of state fishing license when they check in. Time: 7:30-10:00am

Equipment: Must bring own fishing equipment and bait. Two poles maximum. No boats allowed.

Ages: minimum 5 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Price: $5 per angler

Beginners and families participating in the Fun Fishing Derby will fish Quarry Lake at the Lower Quarry Shelf for any fish. An expert will be on hand to help and guide participants and to offer pointers. All anglers will receive a Participation Medal when they finish fishing.

Note: Children under the age of 16 do not need a fishing license. The adult accompanying a child fishing does not need a fishing license if he/she does not participate in fishing at all. Usually the adult casts, sets the hook, and/or helps the child reel in, in which case, that adult would need a valid Illinois fishing license. (Per DNR site)

• BYOBoat!
• Fishing equipment: 2 poles maximum and bait
• Scale
• Measuring stick or tape measure

Ages: minimum 5 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Price: $20 per angler

Anglers of all ages will cast their lines for Largemouth Bass on either Kreuger Quarry Lake or Great Lakes Quarry. Participants must provide their own fishing equipment and boat. A  $200 cash prize will be awarded for the heaviest Largemouth Bass!

Competition Derby Rules: 

• Catch and release
• Two poles and line fishing only
• Angler will take a photo of the fish on a scale with weight clearly visible in the photo and a picture of the fish on a measuring stick/tape. Bring pictures to check in at the end of Derby for verification.
• Angler must be present to receive cash prize and trophy. Award is given to the angler with the single heaviest fish. In the event of a tie, the award goes to the longest fish by length. If the angler is NOT present, the award will be given to the angler with the next heaviest fish who is present.
